EVALUATION OF ROUNDUP® TOXICITY IN HUMAN LUNG CELLS

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objective: In this study, toxic effects of Roundup, one the most common glyphosate-based herbicides (GBHs), were assessed on human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B).
Material and Method: MTT neutral red uptake assays implemented for evaluation cell viability at 24 48 h. Apoptosis detection was made by Muse analyzer while Hoechst staining employed to detect apoptotic nuclear changes. addition, dichlorofluorescein diacetate assay used assessment reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation.
Result Discussion: Similar half maximal inhibitory concentrations (IC50) obtained from cytotoxicity assays. Results showed that significant reduction in BEAS-2B started occur 200 µM h 50 at48 treatment times. Roundup treatments both time points found dose-dependently cause apoptosis also observed induce cellular ROS formation. These findings suggest GBHs can stimulate production, as well healthy lung which is important considering inhalation primary exposure routes these group chemicals.

In vitro toxicity evaluation of single walled carbon nanotubes on human A549 lung cells.

This paper describes the in vitro cytotoxicity assessment of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) on A549 cells, a human lung cell line. Cellular viability was determined using the alamar blue (AB), neutral red (NR) and MTT assays, which evaluated metabolic, lysosomal and mitochondrial activity respectively. In addition, the total protein content of the cells was measured using the coomassie ...

Toxicity of cerium oxide nanoparticles in human lung cancer cells.

With the fast development of nanotechnology, the nanomaterials start to cause people's attention for potential toxic effect. In this paper, the cytotoxicity and oxidative stress caused by 20-nm cerium oxide (CeO2) nanoparticles in cultured human lung cancer cells was investigated. The sulforhodamine B method was employed to assess cell viability after exposure to 3.5, 10.5, and 23.3 microg/ml o...

Nanosized Zinc Oxide Induces Toxicity in Human Lung Cells

Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) are increasingly used in sunscreens, biosensors, food additives, pigments, rubber manufacture, and electronic materials. With the wide application of ZnO-NPs, concern has been raised about its unintentional health and environmental impacts. This study investigates the toxic effects of ZnO-NPs in human lung cells. In order to assess toxicity, human lung epithel...

Edaravone Decreases Paraquat Toxicity in A549 Cells and Lung Isolated Mitochondria

Edaravone, an antioxidant and radical scavenger, showed protective effects against oxidative stress-like condition. Paraquat (PQ) is a toxic herbicide considerable evidence suggests that oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction contribute to PQ toxicity. In this study, protective effect of edaravone against PQ induced toxicity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in A549 cells and...
